Description

In Italy, November 2 is the Commemoration of the Dead Persons. Since I’m part of this community, even here some friends have left us forever. This rose is for them and for all our loved ones are gone! Thanks for looking and for previous comments!

Beautiful image and motif, Maria. Great photo and PS filtering. You know me... i love roses. #:o) And you know what..my new apartment have a small garden. The first thing i found in that garden.. was a rose. There are no flowers or leaves on it.. so i won't know what specioes it is..untill spring. :)+5

Living in San Antonio, with a large population with Mexican roots, I am familiar with the similar tradition of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), a day to celebrate and remember the lives of loved ones who have died. Alters are built, and favorite food eaten. There is much partying and getting together of family, which is an integral part of much Mexican culture. It is also celebrated on Nov. 2nd. Beautiful rose, capture, and postwork! I like the soft golden yellow against the dark of the green leaves and black background. Excellent light, shadows, and detail. I think of my dad and remember the bright light he was in my world, and remains in my memory.
