Description

Not alone at the canals these days.. Normally there are no other boats, a dam made in 1968 makes it hardly possible for others to reach "my" canal.. but, because of my little compagny, the city decided to make the Koninginnegracht (Queen's canal) deeper again... and get all rubbish out.. Spectecular sight ! Once it was 3 meters deep (about 10ft), until recently it was 1m80 (6ft).. they are making it 2mtr again (6f7) for the first time in about 50 years there is a lot of action... but not for me .. no tourists on my boats.. as I can not pass.. this week.. There is a lot of rain anyway.. so no problemo.. It was a great season.., but it is almost over now.
all these boats and cranes have been put in the canals - like my own boats- by enormous cranes.. 15 november all boats will be out again.. including mine, as winter will bring ice

Cleaning the Konninginnengracht after 50 years, they might find old cars, with or without dead bodies!!! For sure they will find bikes, if it is a Batavus from the 60ties, black with flat-tires it might be mine!!! Groeten, Henk

You know, large bodies of water usually scare me, but for some reason, I'd want to go wading in that (once its all clean and stuff)--great picture...

Sorry to hear about your season being over, but next year you'll have deeper and cleaner waters, we hope. Nice shot.

I'm Happy you had a great season - super... It looks over though Chris... Ya made it into November, but with this cleaner in your path, looks like you're done - they're gonna be there a while and with them disturbing the floor of the canal, that can't be good on you motor.... what do you got planned the next half year?

Glad you had a good season. Too bad the reconstruction has to keep the customers away.

It seems the timing for this project was good .. your season is almost over, there's been lots of rain so no tourists anyway .. and next year you'll have a canal that's so much more accessible to everyone! A great capture, I've never seen this being done. I'm so glad you had such a great year .. and hope next year is even better. So winter will be spent working on getting the boats in tip-top shape for next year, and maybe resting a bit too?

So very interesting!!! BTW my little terrier in my avatar LOVES the water, and it's hard to keep him out of the sea and the streams! He'd probably enjoy a job with you, he has his own lifejacket.
