Description

Area 51 is a military base located in the southern portion of Nevada in the western United States, 83 miles (133 km) north-northwest of downtown Las Vegas. Situated at its center, on the southern shore of Groom Lake is a large secretive military airfield. The base's primary purpose is to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems. The base lies within the United States Air Forces vast Nevada Test and Training Range. Though the name Area 51 is used in official CIA documentation, other names used for the facility include Dreamland, Paradise Ranch, Home Base, Watertown Strip, Groom Lake, and most recently Homey Airport. The area is part of the Nellis Military Operations Area, and the restricted airspace around the field is known by the military pilots in the area as "The Box" or "the Container". The intense secrecy surrounding the base, the very existence of which the U.S. government barely acknowledges, has made it the frequent subject of conspiracy theories and a central component to unidentified flying object (UFO) folklore. Please Note: Today’s rendering is not intended to assume a position one way or the other on the controversial subject. The concept, however, provided me with an opportunity to play with Menger sponges and Mandelbulbs at the same time. Who could resist? Created in Ultra Fractal

A great title for this wonderful work. I like the two distinctive concepts combined like this and my imagination is working overtime about area 51.

Great image Stan. It looks like some kind of sci fi scene that would truly fit with the concept of Area 51. I noticed Corrie said Area 51 does not exist, it really does exist, i am not sure there is any creedence to the conspiacy theories but the area certainly is a reality. The topic is still hotly debated in some circles. Wheter it is true or not does not take anything away from the wonder of your image. You asked on my image about the cross how i did it, it really was a simple fractal, that is the entire formula no deep zoom at all, just several layers of outside to change lighting and colors and such. The basic formula was Carr1301S
