Description
Tuweep or Toroweap is an area, on the Grand Canyon, south of the Utah border. The National Park Service describes the road out here as “graded occasionally”, allow 2 to 3 hours, no RVs, trailers or low clearance vehicles recommended. This route is impassable after heavy rains and subject to flash flooding. There are more than 60 volcanic vents that can be seen in this area and one vent is visible, on the left side of the Colorado River, up on the edge of that plateau. It is a dark gray color and partially collapsed in its left side. The white water in the river below is called the lava rapids. Taken May 2001 and recently scanned.
