Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Thanks Bill, this plane looks good in the air, but it just doesn't look right with the gear down.As you say a very rare bird and saddly highly unlikely one will ever fly again. Thanks again.

It's a lovely shot, although I can't speak to anything about the plane itself! Beautiful shimmer on the body!

They sure have a great collection of planes, great capture!!!

Great capture Bill.

Wow! There we have the real thing! Very rare indeed! Thanks for posting this AND for the link to the air force museum page. I was fascinated to read about the non-stop flight across the US - must have taken a LONG time even at top speed (how did the pilots manage? No toilet on board!). The pitch and counter-rotating propellers are very clearly visible in this photo. Not much clearance to the ground. Nice feather in England's cap that the Merlin engines were used here, too. Who cares about the "cluttered" exhibitin hall - that's to be expected with a lot of planes in a confined space. :) What unique stuff will you fellows come up with next? With all the unique stuff you're posting, it's getting difficult to out-do yourselves! Keep up the good work! :-)

Great image!!

Thanks for the shot of this strangely wacky bird. A rare thing indeed.

Not cluttery ... it's the color of the walls ... Great shot of this unusual plane! Seems a bit overkill to me to have two cockpits. Since this style never caught on, the design engineers must have come to the same conclusion!

Great image Hugs Susan~

Amazing Bill. I love the way these places use available space by hanging some in the air. And don't laugh but I would kill to have one of those colourful propellers on my wall! Here is a bit more info HERE

TERRIFIC, AMAZING IMAGE!

Cool capture of a unique aircraft that I was well aware of back in the middle of the 20th century, Bill. Incidentally, the brother shown in my The Civil War - Musicians 2 posting is not the same one that forwards those neat videos to me, which in turn, I forward to you. He resides in New Mexico.

Nice one, Bill! I wasn't aware that any of those were still in existance, let alone as pristine as this one is. Someone put a lot of work into restoring this beauty!
