I always just miss this...but then Chicago's cicada population tends to reach adulthood higher up on the trees...the ones that use trunks and lower bits tend to do so just when I'm not around to photograph them. I just get their husks. This looks like an annual cicada (those simple eyes that look like bike reflectors are a clue) but it's very, very green...not ripe yet. :-) I love these critters and the fact that you got one emerging from its infant skin is just perfect timing. Well seen and presented.
