This is something simple done in Carrara. I was playing with the things the program can easily do, while once again trying a narrative exercise. I gave it a neutral title, but hopefully the story is clear enough from the image. It is something of a twisted illustration to a story I read long ago as a child.
Critique is very welcome. I'd love to hear what works here and what doesn't: anything from the image quality/story to Carrara-related specific issues.
This is pretty much pure Carrara, the only postwork is very slight DOF and enhanced glow (Carrara's own glow and post effect rendered as a separate passes and duplicated with lower opacity and some blur). Also, of course, the signature mark was added in post.
Items used:
-- Stonemason's Urban Future 3 (shaders modified and adopted for Carrara, also some minor UV mapping change for some signs)
-- V4 with Fabiana's Bettine textures.
-- Lolita Dress by Afrodite-Ohki with
-- JUGGLER for Lolita Dress by outoftouch (color change is simple shader manipulation inside Carrara)
-- sleeves are from Will Dupre & MAB's Far Journeyer
-- top, pants and boots are from Bobbie25 & Sarsa's B25 Steam Punk Aviator V4 (colors altered in Carrara as well)
-- Hair is 3Dream's Sensual Hair V4
-- Lake and mist are slightly modified ocean primitive and cloud primitive from the Secret Lake set by HowieFarkes
as I said, extremely easy. Almost shamefully so...
Please share your opinion.
P.S. Based on the comments (Thank you, all, for posting them and for liking the image.), I think I need to clarify, what I mean by simple and easy here :). Here it goes:
This image has very few content items (as compared to some of my other images) and the items I used required very limited tweaking, most of which was Carrara shader alterations. The Sky is Carrara's native atmosphere, again, with very few tweaks, the lake and mist are also very slight modifications of the ready-made items, the pose is simple, the lighting is mostly from the sky/sun. So I feel like I had to do very little work for this image. Again, as compared to my usual workflow.
But, I guess, the image shows off the great content items I used and it demonstrates what an amazing program Carrara is.

Great light and scene.

"simple"? I'd like to see what you call complex! Wow! I love the lighting - especially the effect through the fog. I think the narrative comes through clearly. My eye is drawn from the sky machine right to the girl. Great job!

Great looking futuristic city scene!

I agree with above, if this is simple I want to know what's complex for you! This is beautiful. The scene is dynamic, I can almost feel that woman leaning onto that rail over there. Nice work!

your right, it does look better full size, she is awaiting some kind of airship in a world with lots of machines and water. I could not deduce any more story.
