I dont think of myself as an artist - more a creatively minded laymen. Im blessed with perpetual inspiration, but cursed by a lack of talent.
I have always loved to sketch, and on the odd occasion even paint. Unfortunately for me, a real world canvas doesnt have an undo button. This is why, back in 1996, I first started toying with a Shareware version of Paint Shop Pro (found on the cover of a magazine). I knew almost instantly that digital art was for me.
Fast forward to 2006, when I discovered a highly under-rated (yet unfortunately limited) program called FaceGen. Within hours of tinkering with the software I was creating realistic characters well beyond anything I could have managed via traditional mediums. But what to do about bodies for my newly created digital brethren?
I took it upon myself to scour the internet in search of a 3D software package that was flexible enough to fulfil my specific needs, while still being NOOB friendly. Untimely I didnt want to spend months, or even years deciphering the ins and outs of 3D Studio Max for instance.
It wasnt long before I caught digital whisperings of a program called Poser, which lead me eFrontiers very own site.
In search of more examples of Poser art I found myself inevitably at Renderosity...and I havent looked back since.
The community here is certainly a mixed bunch (as are all communities, online especially), but in the great majority they have proven to be incredibly helpful, and wonderfully supportive.
If you plan on commenting on my images (and I certainely hope you do) while praise is always appreciated, critical analysis and constructive criticism is encouraged.
Happy rendering!

Hence, why they are called 'sketches', yes? Looks nice to me. Almost reminds me of a comic-book styling.

there is nothing wrong with "rushed" sketches. I like this art, it is a sketch and skethes are rushed art - lol... I've seen lots of rushed sketches that when finalize art is done, ya can't tell the sketch from the finish as far as the identity. The sketch line here that is mostly caught by the eye is the left ear coming into the cheek - I could see when this piece is finished, that line just may turn into a sideburn. I like your style, and critisizm is welcome if it is a positive.... I've made images like this in the past and had art teachers tell me I don't "finish" my work... well, if this is all that you're doing with this art, it is finished - lol... only hold on to what people say that will make you better, the ones that come out and say they don't like it, don't let it bother you, we can't all like the same stuff. And I won't always agree with what you create just like you won't always agree with what I make - that's what makes art so interesting.

Thanks guys. This is as much as I'm going to do with this image, so in that sense it's as finished as it'll ever be :). I'm still finding my feet artistically, so a lot of what I do is simply experimentation, with more misses than hits.

what a nice expression, you have a great style

i agree with Iceshark39. if they were slow and deliberate, they wouldn't be sketches. they'd be finished works. which doesn't mean you should necessarily take them further, because e as you said, i think sketches are about getting out ideas and experimenting. i like style you're developing.

oops!!! Guilty :( lol I must have been misunderstood when i said "Your 2d is even cooler but i guess you do them in kinda a hurry. right?" I was only expressing my fondness of your work when I said that. For each one to be done in minutes, means that when you add a couple more time....it'll be improved. Well, Shrimp keep it up man!
ClawShrimp
Haha...don't worry Jydekris; it's actually just an incredible coincidence that you mentioned something similar. I took your comments as they were intended (i.e. complimentary), whereas the comments I received from a co-worker recently were anything but.

These sketches are great.
