I think I would have called this "Deep Purple". :) Great image.

lord, I'd just commented on another of your tulip paintings, when you put this up. I came back from a long day, and I see this up, and whoosh: The cosmos opens up! Years back, we used to study the patterns of many things to see commonalities between all things in nature, and I was always struck at how similar flower patterns could be to the vast "star stuff" in space. This image bursts with cosmic energy & opulence, and because you went in up-close, we get to see it like an explosion of cosmic forces. I always felt flowers have the secrets of the cosmos in them (Georgia O'Keeffe understood that---her flower paintings can open the Red Sea as far as I'm concerned). This painting proves that. The thrust from the bottom, those big petal-spines curving their way up the image, and all that "vein activity"---those veins coursing into the petals' extremities: They're like fires coming out of a vast galactic mass. And they open to the petal tops which are glowing in white trim, and that watercolor-like effusion of light above. Your movement from dark purples to reds to blues & then bluish whites is beautiful. And the overall feels is of a non-ending bursting star reaching for the light. Whatever photo you began with, the poor thing is quivering from what you pulled out of it, lol: It explodes with power & sensuality. A beautiful work.

Gorgeous! I love the colors and the way the petals reach up to the stars. It makes me think of the images taken by the Hubble telescope of nebulae. Stunning color, light, and motion! Beautiful highlights against the deep purples, and reds. Like an emotional piece of music, this stirs the senses. Excellent image!
