Description

The English had the singer/actress Vera Lynn and the Germans had singer/actress Marlene Dietrich ... ... and here are the words about 'the MOTH', in my pic, which apt to scorch itself by fluttering about light and which inspired me to make this a dedication to both of them: *** Falling in love again Never wanted to What am I to do? Can't help it ... Men cluster to me like moths around a flame And if their wings burn, I know I'm not to blame *** Ich bin von Kopf bis Fuss Auf Liebe eingestellt, Denn das ist meine Welt. Und sonst gar nichts. Maenner umschwirr'n mich, wie Motten um das Licht. Und wenn sie verbrennen, ja dafuer kann ich nichts. *** Cheers *BB*

I guess that moth is all burned out, poor little love struck fella ! Actually the postwork effects have made his fur (?) look like blue & white flames, very neat touch ! Another fine addition to your great gallery ! Well done & ~Cheers~

I happen to have Marlene Dietrich singing that song in my music library. It's a classic. Great shot.

The movie "Der blaue Engel"; the song made famous by Marlene Dietrich, "Falling in Love Again (Can't Help it)" conflated with your photograph of a blue moth are beyond the realm of wonder. The relationships you've presented are sublime and apropos. Kudos BB! The moth is a nocturnal creature guided by the moon sure of its course. Nightly, in the knowing engendered from intuition its needs are met. Unfortunately, like Immanuel Rath, moths can be attracted by burning artificial lights that undermine its determination and faith. In the end the poor moth is utterly consumed. Additionally, in the movie, Immanuel Rath wasn't the only moth as Lola Lola exhibited the subtle allure of the female moth. Pheromones can be deadly. Caveat emptor. :-) Well done BB!

Excellent capture. I was wondering what this was. Gorgeous color but it does look exhausted, poor thing. I to am familiar with The Blue Angel. I prefer Madilyn Kahn's version in Blazing Saddles. Less drama, more laughs.

When I read the ebot, and before I opened the image, I was already hearing that song in my mind and wondering if you were singing it with an Australian/German accent!! What a stunning composition, Brigitte, and a very pretty moth.

excellent picture and commentary. Although tired and worn out the moth looks like it is determined to try again until it succeeds or dies trying.

What an amazing picture to show your song! This is wonderful, you see the beautiful blue moth, literally fell in love. No, you should not fall in love, you must grow in it. If love is like the light, and this attracts the wrong men, then they indeed do better to burn, before you will being scammed by them ;-). And now I'm gonna sing the whole day long, while thinking of your extraordinary input and image : "Ich bin von Kopf biss Fuss.....tralalala" :D Just GREAT you are, my dear friend!

love the comments, and I too remember the song (way back, haven't heard it in eons)...your shot is almost abstract, an avant garde piece with a flat surface, a big beam diagonal, and the big bug/moth. It's a wonderful, pure design. But then there's the texture on the metal (I assume that's metal)---in zoom, it's really visible. And the shadows. And the way you have of illuminating the outlines, esp on the moth. You have a strong bright outline around him. (That's a moth, right? Its wings are contained, obviously, but I wouldn't have guessed it was a moth, at first. It's so self-contained...) And the moth is blue, to standout from the area around it. And the rest? Darkness.

Terrific piece. You caught a modern piece of art with a living insect as your subject---damned impressive, madam!
