Description

Location: Berlin - Charlottenburg, Mayor`s House Hello again, friends! This pic here is part of a great representative building, the Mayor House of Charlottenburg. A short history: Charlottenburg is named after the preussian queen Sophie Charlotte, who owned a little chateau here, some miles away from Berlin, to spend the hot summers countryside, near a little farming village named "Lietzow" Lietzow changed its name soon to "Charlottenburg" to please the queen, and after the king and nobles came the upper class citizens and built their fine houses and villas near the chateau. In 200 years Charlottenburg grew up and became the richest city in the preussian kingdom. In 1921 the single history of Charlottenburg ended and it became part of Great Berlin. The Charlottenburg citizens spent themselves a great mayor`s house in about 1880; its tower is much higher as the tower of the chalet nearby; the king of Preussen and now emperor of the German Reich should be very angry about this fact, our tourist guides tell us... The Charlottenburg Mayor House was heavy damaged in WW II and burnt down completely inside, great parts are reconstructed. The house has a lot of fine stone carvings and is built with sandstones from Saxony. Thanks for looking in and tahanks for the comments for my older pics. They are always welcome. And now YOURS....
