Description

Looks better on the *ZOOM* please. Hi Guys, I hope you all feel good today. I apologise for falling behind with my comments and aim to put that right this very week. I am so excited about this pic as it is mostly my own painting, and photography. It took me ages to create, especially the old witch with her millions of wrinkles, (she looks similar to, but is older than the last witch painting I did). I cannot use my wacom intuos3 just now, due to my silly arthritic fingers, so was easier to use my mouse to paint. I created my own effect brushes, i.e. skin, clouds, tree bark. using CS4 tools/effects. I painted all of the witch, her clothes, her hat, her jewellery. Also the night sky (from various sky background's I am creating), the old tree, the broomstick, and the rocks. The rest is photography which of course does include the 2 pics of Amy at different ages taken with my Finepix S5000. Many thanks to the artist's brushes, or 3D items used that I give credit to below, where would I be without them. A short story - 'It's all about the Love' ... The old tired witch loved the mother cat, and took notice to follow her, as she appeared distressed. They both soared to the top of the mountain on the trusty old broomstick in search of the mother cat's cheeky beloved kitten. Eventually they found her perched precariously on a branch of a very old tree! The mother cat knew her loving witch would save her beloved kitten, so set to washing herself and then had a good scratch, feeling safer sitting closely near her. The old green witch lovingly tried to tempt the kitten away from the spiders web and the occupants within it, by offering her another spider to play with, and as time passed she achieved her mission. You see the witch loved all living creatures, and they responded toward her affectionately. It is so evident here that the old witch could scare us because we would expect her to after hearing and reading about nasty old witches all of our lives, when in fact she had an abundance of love within her, and is of no threat. She put herself in danger teetering on the edge of that rocky mountain to help the one's she loved. Once the kitten was saved the witch carefully loaded the felines onto her broomstick, and flew back down the mountain. It wasn't long before she saw her warm welcoming cottage below. That night all three settled close by the fire, content in knowing they were safe and with the one's they loved. ... THE END Ok so I am feeling a bit mushy tonight, but hey I thought it would be nice to have a good witch for a change, and always a happy ending :o) My dear friends, Thank you all for visiting my gallery, leaving touching and inspirational comments. Thank you also for the faves you have generously awarded me, and many thanks to those who thought my art worthy enough to add me to their favourite artists. take good care of yourselves, keep safe, hugs Jane xx To all who kindly visit my gallery - please enjoy but please respect my copyright ©2010 JaneEden thank you. Oops! sorry I forgot to credit mystikel for the spider web brushes!

Jane, this is something that I could not do. Even though you were limited to a mouse it's very good painting you have done here. And your cat is just so cat and you have them well integrated into your work here. Well Done!

This is beautiful, Jane! Lovely painting, lighting, and composition! Excellent light on the witches outfit and hair. Wonderful painting, bringing out the highlights and shadows. The detail on her face is superb, as is her expression, which is very loving. Terrific story. I love how Mother Cat is having a scratch. Beautiful background with wonderful atmosphere, color, and very dramatic sky. Gorgeous image!

This is amazing Jane, once again your work is outstanding. The artistry is exquisite, and your story is one we all can learn from. Actually your story reminds me of my post on this past sunday the 7th november, If you get a chance read my little story there. You will see it closely mirrors yours, but not nearly as well pictured or written. Jim

I am very impressed with how this all turned out. For some reason what really catches my eye is the tree. I like the bold lines that you have given it. Great job with all the brush work and for making your own. I knew that you'd love CS once you got working with it.

Sis, first of all let me say how happy I am to get my computer back online tonight just to see this lovely work of art from you. This truly is an epic work Jane, and knowing that you painted most of it makes it even more special. The story was wonderful and the theme of love even from the old witch really hit home. Bless you Sis, and the lives you touch daily through your work and your life.

historically witches were oppressed because they were outcasts, but often they were anything but evil, and many had deep spiritual roots. A lovely story, Jane. And your painting is wonderful: I didn't know you could paint this way! And with a mouse? I can't draw a penny with a mouse! Wonderful job on the witch, her gown is like flowing light, and its hues are gorgeous. You did a great job on the face too, the features, the gaze, all of it. The tree is a gnarly old folktale tree, wonderful shape and shadows. And your sky is luminous (as are the rocks). I didn't know you were a painter! Then, as you always do, you've woven the photographic elements seamlessly: The two cats are quietly melded in; and the photos of them, alone, are beautiful. I love the scratching, it tells us immediately that this is a protective witch, because if she weren't, no animal would stay near her. And the lantern casts a beautiful patina on the witch, which you've painted into her gown. A beautiful image, and so nice that you made so much of it from scratch! I know it's your birthday in two days (chicago time), I hope it's a beautiful day for you. And I hope you're well too, Jane. I'll be in touch soon, but it's everyone's pleasure to come here & spread happiness to you: You've spread joy with every image you've posted. A lovely enchanted vision for all your friends...
