Description

"Why didn't you run?" roared the dragon as he landed in a rush of air. "You make it so easy to make a snack of you, small creature." "You're so skillful at flying I realized that it would do me little good to try and run but since you are also so big and powerful and so honorable looking I figured that I would challenge you." The dragon reared back in utter astonishment. "YOU! You would challenge me?" "But of course. You aren't afraid of a little challenge from someone as small and soft as me are you?" The tip of a tail flickered. "And it's such a simple challenge that you wouldn't have to exert yourself in the least." "And just what stakes are you placing on this challenge, small creature?" the dragon asked suspiciously. "If you win you get to eat me as a snack. I won't even try to run." "And if the impossible should happen and you win?" asked the now puzzled dragon. "I get to eat you for lunch or walk away never to be bothered by you again." Another twitch of tail-tip and a sleepy seeming blink of green eyes. The dragon roared with laughter."I accept your challenge, small creature. What exactly is this challenge you propose?" And the small creature walked safely away never to be bothered by dragon kind again for everyone knows that not even a mighty dragon can win a staring contest with a cat. Dedicated to you, Jane Eden along with a wish that you have a very happy Birthday. May all your wishes come true.
