Description

McConnell's Mill was built in 1852 and was completely destroyed by fire in 1868. When the mill was rebuilt, the water wheel and grinding stones were replaced with water turbines and rolling mills making it one of the first rolling mills in the country. The mill was closed in 1928 and made into a state park in 1957. This is a view of Slippery Rock Creek which supplied power to the mill. The covered bridge in the back ground is one of two covered bridges in Lawrence County. Thanks for looking and as always comments are welcome.

More river than mill here, but still a good photo, I like how you froze the water, and thanks for incuding the history I love finding these old mills. Happy Thanksgiving.
