Description
Took this shot of a California Poppy in my garden.
Chose not to pick it but shoot it where it was growing.
I put a white A4 sheet behind it for a background. It would have been easier to take it inside and not worry about the slight breeze. My thoughts of shooting this way because I can go into the wild and shoot rare species and not destroy the environment.
Would be interested in anybody's opinion of this style of shooting plants. I'm sure this has been done before.

I have done this and it's a great way to do flowers if the sun is in the right place. Otherwise you get deep shadows on the background. I often carry different colors of paper or fabric with me to use for backdrops. Excellent job with this photograph. I have photographed mine every year, trying to get the lovely detail in the centers. Its not easy. You have done it perfectly.

I have a few take on using paper background outdoor. As you said why cut the flower when we can go around it and let grow until times up. You made a great picture here with a clean backdrop and a lovely color of the poppy. Specialy like the open one additioned with the bud. I just wondering how would look this set up in vertical format with a bit longer stem. I find a bit of the lost space on the left but asking a bit more room at the tip of the bud.
