Description

PLEASE ZOOM IN FOR THE BEST VIEWING The beautiful and always elegant Vany shows off her classic 1932 AM Roadster. Which brings to mind, Gentleman's Rule #115: Never touch a lady's car. Don't forget, the list predates the advent of the automobile and the number is in no way an indication of low import. It's Friday and this Poser 7 rendering I am dedicating to Gene (aka 2Loose2Trek here at Renderosity). What I like so much about Gene's work is not just the beautiful photo-realism he crafts into his Poser portraits - and the beautiful young ladies there in. But also his willingness to share his knowledge with everyone here. It was through observing Gene's Poser works that I first started to investigate IBL (or diffuse) lighting to enhance the qualities of my renderings. Gene has inspired me as well as others to try new and better things. Cheers my friend. And in keeping with Gene's tradition, here are some details about how this Poser rendering was put together. Render Settings: Raytrace bounce: 4 Irradiance caching: 90 Pixel samples: 8 Min. shading rate: 0.20 Post filter size: 2 Post filter type: sinc HDRI optimized output is set. No gamma correction When one adjusts settings like Post filter size and type or uses HDRI, alterations in light brightness levels is often required. Typically, the sun light level often must be lowered and the diffuse IBL lighting must be raised. And with respect to lights, two were used in this scene. Light One: For sunlight I used infinite yellowish white with ray traced shadows (2.0, 0.8), 40% intensity, 1024 map size. Light Two: For environmental lighting I used diffuse light (for IBL) with shadows off (default) and applying the sunRight IBL light probe from Poser 6 textures (applied in the material panel for the light), 110% intensity, 1024 map size I do not activate the general ambient occlusion when I set up IBL lights but I do rely on ambient occlusion nodes applied to most textures in the scene. Yes, that can be a bit of work sometimes. Vany's (admittedly minimal) skin is also enhanced with additional custom shading techniques which I lean upon. I'd give more details on that but I've only got 4096 characters to recite it. Though much of what I do has its origins from the following site developed by face_off. http://www.physicalc-software.com/tutorials/realskinshader/ Oh yes! I forgot to mention that I also use a magnet parented to Vany's hat (though the hat is set to not distort) to press down Vany's hair so the hat appears more natural on her head. And as always honourable mention goes to those who have provided free props and characters for this rendering: outoftouch for the Vany character. ISOP for the Gloves for V3. jtrout for the Vany's Riding Hat. geralday for the book prop. Stegy for Vany's Nose Stud. DAZ for Victoria 3. Other Credits. Lovely Lady - Jatex Style Pantsuit 2 for V3 DAZ for the 1932 AM Roadster. DAZ for the clutch purse. Vany's hair is Messy Jessi hair rescaled and repositioned to fit Victoria 3.
