Description
Like SETI radio telescope dishes, these lovely blooms scan deep space for any sign of sentient life.
Captured 11/4/10, within walking distance of my hauteur haven.
Better viewed full size.
I like the shadows cast on the petals by the stamens.
Adieu, thankx for tuning in, and for any and all laudatory comments and favs.

The shadows were what caught my eye too, especially in the second image, where it seems to be leaning away from its source of being. I think the second is my favorite, though they both are wonderful. I like the crinkly shadows on the lower petals, the hint of green beneath the delicate yellow, and the way the shadow seems to be a separate stamen connected at the base. I like the light outline of the shadowed leaf. There is a luminous quality to the bottom image that I find particularly appealing. The flowers in the top image are a team. The are sturdy, aggressive, and even a bit brazen. They seem to be saying, "Hummingbirds, we got what you crave!" Beautiful color and detail! I like your comparison to them scanning for intelligent life. Other than your charming self, I wonder if they found any. Excellent shot!
