Description

Where I Live OK before some smart ar*e asks if I live in the woods, this image is near where we live. It Entwistle Reservoir and is in Lancashire. Yep Lancashire does have other places than Blackpool. It is owned by United Utilities and is on the west Yorkshire Moors near Blackburn. There is a beautiful two mile walk around the edge of the reservoir and it has to be the best two mile walk virtually anywhere. We have done this walk about 100 times this year. Hard to believe that a few weeks ago the levels where 12 feet down and we had a hosepipe ban which in Lancashire has to be almost farcical. When it was constructed in 1832, the dam of the Entwistle Reservoir was the highest in Britain. Standing 108ft high, it is 360ft long and holds back some 726 million gallons of water and, together with the Wayoh Reservoir lower down the valley, provides about half the water needed for Bolton. There are the usual Mallards and Canadian geese but also much to the horror of the local fishing club Cormorants just love it here and high in the conifers nest Herons. The woodlands are home to deer as well as multitude of birds. This was taken this week...yes there is water on the path...what else would you expect in Lancashire. I will put up a few other shots from around the reservoir.
