Description

A Fata Morgana is a mirage of a special variety, characterized as being particularly vivid. The name is derived from the Italian translation of Morgan le Fay, the fairy shape-shifting half-sister of King Arthur. Fata Morgana mirages can be observed almost anywhere. A Fata Morgana can be (and often has been) photographed. But when people who have witnessed a Fata Morgana are interviewed, their reports of what they have witnessed are wildly disparate. I find this intriguing. I am reminded of one of my favorite Charles Schultz (Peanuts) cartoons featuring a discussion between Charlie Brown and Linus lying on their backs on a grassy knoll looking up at the clouds. The discussion (from memory) goes like this: CB – Linus, do you like to make pictures of the clouds passing by? Linus – Yes, for example in these clouds I see the Apostle Paul on the road to Damascus faced with the blinding light of God surrounded by the Heavenly Host in a moment of soul searing revelation. What do you see Charlie Brown? CB – Well, I was going to say I saw a ducky and a horsey, but I changed my mind. Today’s rendering is a Fata Morgana. Or is it? The image is made from five different UF bulb formulas, including Mandelbulb, Lambdabulb, and Juliabulb varieties. Created in Ultra Fractal.

Magnificent image Stan!!! This is stunning in its depth and complexity. Your description helps make it all the more precious. Thank you for the advice on how to do the lake effect, i tried it just a few minutes ago for practice and it works great, so now i will create a UF image designed specifically to add that effect to. Your help is always very much appreciated. Jim
