Description

I took this shot from a room of the castle-and-museum of San Pelagio, in the outskirts of Padova. In my opinion the image embodies the colorful, warm aspect of autumn in a sunny day. We usually call the creeper American vine. Virginia creeper or five-leaved ivy (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) is a woody vine native to North America. Virginia creeper can be used as a shading vine for buildings on masonry walls. Because the vine adheres to the surface by disks rather than penetrating roots, it will not harm the masonry but will keep a building cooler by shading the wall surface during the summer, saving money on air conditioning. Native Americans used the plant as an herbal remedy for diarrhea, difficult urination, swelling, and lockjaw. Outside you can see a Diospyros kaki, better known as the Japanese Persimmon, Kaki Persimmon (kaki or shizi in Chinese) or Asian Persimmon in North America. We call it simply 'cachi' tree. Thank you for your kind comments.

Somehow I got pizza out of that.. I must be hungry. :) Great facts. I could have used some of that this summer when our a/c unit went out, wasn't very pleasant and either was the bill for the new one.
