Description

View is toward the east along the border fence/wall with Mexico at Naco, Cochise County, Arizona. The border the United States shares with Mexico is almost 2,000 miles long. On the US side the states that share the border with Mexico are California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Fences/walls as shown in this photo usually extend several miles in each direction at the particular border crossing, but vast stretches of the border have no fence/wall. The border Arizona shares with Mexico is about 350 miles long. In Arizona the border crossings are at San Luis (near Yuma), Lukeville, Sasabe, Nogales, Naco, and Douglas. The busiest crossing of those is Nogales. Vehicles coming into the United States from Mexico get checked for illegals aliens and drugs. Vehicles going into Mexico are checked for illegal weapons. Foot traffic is monitored for suspicious persons. The vast majority of illegals come across the border at remote locations between San Luis and Lukeville where the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range is an active gunnery range north of the border where military aircraft practice their skills in air to ground attack. This range is off limit to the public for obvious reasons. Another favorite area for crossing is between Lukeville and Sasabe where on the Arizona side is the Tohono O'Odam Indian Reservation. This year, 2010, over 250 known illegals have succumbed to dehydration and heat exhaustion in Arizona alone. In Nogales this year, 2010, 7 tunnels have been uncovered. These tunnels were started on the Mexican side and were dug under the border fence/wall and were used for smuggling of illegal aliens and drugs. Many of these tunnel have electricity and ventilation. Often illegals are spotted by highway patrol officers on I-10 because of overloaded pick-up trucks or vans. It is nothing unusual that a dozen illegals are in the back of a pick-up truck hidden under a tarp or up to 15 or more illegals packed in a van. In Phoenix, Maricopa County illegals are often stashed in 'drop houses', foreclosed houses, or otherwise empty houses, where they are often held captive for more money. To stem this flood of humans and illegal drugs is the Border Patrol, augmented by the Military. They cannot shoot illegals. On the vast stretches that have no fence/wall there are dirt roads, patrolled by all-wheel trucks or on horseback. There are also special units on foot. There are motion sensors along the the border. In the last five years motion sensors were triggered twice by Jaguars that have strayed across the border from Mexico. Authorities do not disclose those locations. All along the border there is electronic surveillance, augmented by helicopters and UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). On all roads from the border north and on the freeway there are Border Patrol checkpoints. This picture was taken on 19 September 2010. Thank you for viewing and commenting, Sig....

Looks like we need a bigger fence, more guns and a stronger radar! Keep the Drugs and illegals controled. Let everyone that wants in to do it right and pledge their allegance to their new country. You gave it all to be here and I am so glad you did as that is just one of the things that makes Sig all that you are my Friend. P.S. You captured vey well the lonliness that comes along with the wall and the separation of family and friends that exists when one sneaks across and then can't go back to see them.

A very good shot and unlike what we all see on the internet with the litter and trash strewn everywhere. I'd try to escape too with all the shootings and the drug cartels.

lot of facts. all true and a lot more we do not see behind the area as the news do not report the killings and shootings and selling people as slaves. even the Mexico army shot at the border protrol people and the Mexico army was on the U.S. land at the time. make you wonder what going on
