Description
The name -- of it -- is 'Autumn' --
by Emily Dickinson
The name -- of it -- is 'Autumn' --
The hue -- of it -- is Blood --
An Artery -- upon the Hill --
A Vein -- along the Road --
Great Globules -- in the Alleys --
And Oh, the Shower of Stain --
When Winds -- upset the Basin --
And spill the Scarlet Rain --
It sprinkles Bonnets -- far below --
It gathers ruddy Pools --
Then -- eddies like a Rose -- away --
Upon Vermilion Wheels --

This is intriguing. It's obviously a photograph, but it's Composed, it's a painting...it's a photo-painting. The details are fantastic, the composition is superb. I love the sense that it's slightly de-centered; there's a wonderful sort of yin and yang quality to it, but it's uneven and that makes it very natural. In fact, this whole image has a sort of organic feel to it, and that's a part of what makes it so alive. I love the human focus off in the distance, and the way this seems so delicious and rich and succulent. It's funny how "succulent" is a word that fits this. But then, just look at this piece. It's alive! It's warm, it's comforting.
