Description

The Strangest of Encounters By far one of the strangest encounters ever to take place between an Imperial warship on a survey mission, and one of the many beings which are now known to exist within the vastness of interstellar space, occurred when the Imperial cruiser Warsaber, having ventured far beyond the known realms of Imperial space in search of new planets to survey in the hope that they would be acceptable for colonisation encountered a being of incredible strangeness in its flight path. What had first appeared to be either a large vessel or even a small moon or asteroid when it first made its presence known on the Warsaber’s sensor systems turned out to be a living being, a creature without the apparent need for the complex life support systems which allow all other known beings to roam freely in space. Coming to an immediate halt the Captain of the Warsaber and her entire bridge crew could only stare in wonder as the huge creature approached and then stopped exactly five kilometres away from the Warsaber’s primary outer hull. Even five kilometres way the being was huge and for hours the two great creatures of space, one made of metal and the other unknown, as all attempts to scan it proved to be useless would simply stand and stare at each other. From time to time the great creatures head would move slowly from side to side and its eyes would move slowly up and down giving the indication that it too was attempting to scan the strange creature that it found before it. It was the bridge Science Officer who finally came up with a name for the creature when turning to the Warsaber’s Captain he made the comment “It looks like some strange un-heavenly angel”. The Captain immediately ordered that this was to be the classification given to the creature. The stand-off could have continued much longer but all at once it was if the immense being seemed to grow bored with the equally strange creature it found before it, and with a flick of its tail fin it turned and moved off leaving the crew of the Warsaber to only wonder and marvel at what exactly it was that they had encountered on that day.

Great image and a gripping text.Would be good to see a reverse angle for a better look at the "Un-heavenly Aangel". (Space charts are going to look like early maps, areas of uncharted space marked 'here be monsters'..)
