Description

I came across a whole lot of these insects flying around at Flamingo Vlei the other day. This one was sipping perfectly on one of my favourite Sour Fig flowers. Have a great day! Clive Thanks to Bill it is confirmed that is one of the Ctenuchidae Family; Handmaiden Moth. They fly and forage during the day.

What a beautifully crisp and detailed image! Wow. And that is one stunning critter. If you showed that to me here, I'd think you'd painted those stripes. (Actually, I've just spent the last five minutes trying to figure the resistor value and tolerance of this little guy!) LOL!

A beauty Clive. Googled around and found a very similar creature. Here's the info I found: According to Phil Nixon from the Entomology Dept. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, these are day-flying moths, order Ctenuchidae. One I found appeared to have yellow spots where yours has white...so who knows for sure:)
