Description

Sagittarius or The Archer is the ninth astrological sign in the Zodiac, originating from the constellation of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is considered a 'masculine', positive and extrovert sign. It is also a fire sign and one of the four mutable signs. Sagittarius is ruled by the planet Jupiter. In Greek mythology, Sagittarius is identified as a centaur: half human, half horse. In some legends, the Centaur Chiron was the son of Philyra and Saturn, who was said to have changed himself into a horse to escape his jealous wife, Rhea. Chiron was eventually immortalized in the constellation of Centaurus or in some versions, Sagittarius. Sagittarians have a positive outlook on life, are full of enterprise, energy, versatility, adventurousness and eagerness to extend experience beyond the physically familiar. They enjoy travelling and exploration, the more so because their minds are constantly open to new dimensions of thought. They are basically ambitious and optimistic, and continue to be so even when their hopes are dashed. Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer many disappointments without being affected. The vices to which Sagittarians are prone are anger they tend to flare up over trifles. They may be exacting, domineering and inconsiderate. Being one of the luckiest signs, fortune seems to favour them, whether they plan things or not. They feel as if they can't possibly lose. This almost cocky attitude is something that attracts people to them. This is a collage with a Renaissance sky globe from the Vatican Museums and a Roman bronze statue of a Centaur from the National Roman Museum. Thanks for your kind comments.

And I strongly suspect we turn out to be lefties (or south paws) more often than others. I also believe that our seeking of new horizons attitude comes from the sense that we are on entirely part of this world. Which makes our passion for it that much stronger. And, I've always enjoyed archery classes when I was in school. Excellent write up and photography.

...mi piace. Sapevi che le persone che hanno venere in sagittario vivono il rapporto di coppia come una costrizione? ;) Ciao,Sandra.

What a collage! As you can see, I need to catch up, but I am glad to start with yet another of your Zodiological offerings. Centaurs are some of the strangest mythical creatures I've ever seen...as a kid, I always wondered why standard modesty has been allowed to rob these beings of their most intriguing attributes...I won't go too far into that, but if you look at where the male human body stops and the horse body begins, there's something missing: I always thought (mostly as a kid) that that little extra something would make for some very interesting mythological stories as simple human/equine physiology would...shall we say...provide a double endowment. But that's just my weird brain and my sometimes over-literal scientific bent. In terms of this image, it's quite stunning. You're so incredibly good at this. I look at this and I'm reminded (as is often the case) of cover art for either books or old fashioned vinyl records, even though it's been CDs that enjoy such forms of art more. I look at this image and thing, particularly, of the sorts of paintings/collages that might appear on albums by such groups as Dead Can Dance, or anything Lisa Gerrard is likely to produce. If I were a musician, I'd definitely want your work on my album covers. The colors are brilliant and there is a kind of "mood" that they have...as if you've composed this whole thing with a particular mood in mind. I love it. I love the way it's so complex and so visually exciting. I look at it, think I see something that sticks out the most, then I look at it again, and see something else that sticks out the most. Each time I look, there's more to see! Brilliant!
