Description

It's steam Jim, but not as you know it! Railway modelling of a different kind, welcome to the world or 3D Steam, takes up far less room and much, much cheaper! I'm posting this to draw attention to the plight of the would be Railway Modeller. I was recently trawling though what appears to be an endless number of sites, all offering 3D models of various kinds; cars, boats, ships, planes, as well as the obligatory V4/M4 derivatives. I was looking in particulary for a British Steam Train, anything so long as it was British would do. I'd almost given up the quest, when suddenly and quite by chance I spotted a link. What was available, nothing apparent on first look, Vehicles perhaps, correct; a little GWR 0-6-0 Tank on sale at reduced prices: 5.02 ($8.00) Track: 2.51 ($4.00) was there anything else? Try buildings and sure enough there was a GWR Signal Box signed Bewdley South at: 3.13 ($5.00) I'm not a particular lover of GWR, but beggars can't be choosers and for 10.66 it wasn't to be missed, so I bought the lot. I hope you like what I did with it! This little static scene is basically a composite of the bits purchased, Posed in 'Poser' as a scene from the Severn Valley Railway in Shropshire (Englands Hidden Gem)a place I know only to well. (I've stood on that exact spot and looked at that Signal Box many times, immediatey to the right of the tank is a series of sgnals which would have been nice in perspective, if any had been available, and to the left of the box is a telegraph pole!) Hardly an epic masterpiece I know, but with no rolling stock or infrastucture available as yet, it somewhat limits what could be otherwise achieved. The background is a old photograph including the shrubery, the shadowing/weathering is post-worked as gradient layers, and smoke is just painted on in PS and that's it! Oh and then there's my pal Ian, just to add some scale and make sure things remain on the right tracks! I wonder what he's looking at/for something else on the line? All Credits must go to 'DarkAnvil' for his excellent models and to Al at 'PoserDirect' for being so brave in making them available - Thank You both! Enjoy - Choo, Choo!

Well done mate, all that trawling paid off I see. You netted a nice catch here. The Pannier, that humble overlooked workhorse of the GWR and a beautiful GWR Signal box (I could live in one off those). Of course I had prior warning of this . Superb composition, BFN.
