Description

I've been working on this model for a long time and I thought it would be good to post something. I put this together from a bunch of stuff I had already made from other things. Came out fun! For all you Calvin and Hobbes fans out there, enjoy!

Have to laugh because of the C & H reference but my first thought was that they had stolen the Jetsons flying car. LOL! Nice modeling work.

Lyrics going through my head...."Meet George Jetson...dah-dah-da-dahhhhh....his boy Elroy dah-dah-da-dahhhhh... and he's off to Spacely Sprockets to "flip the Big Switch". It's a great model on it's own ( LOVE the refraction AND the tailfin)! but the scene is great also. Gotta go find where you used that boom crane! BTW how DID you get the crane hose and its supports so spot on (Hexagon??) Jeez...the more you look the more you like. Is that a propane heater on the floor next to the rocket? The subtle details, shadows and all, on this thing are "killer". One question tho...headlights? More like skylights :)) "Five-ish? " NAAH it's a SIX!

Q: Gotta go find where you used that boom crane! A: The boom crane was a model that I built for one of the Renderosity online magazine articles. I was doing a comparison for different lighting schemes. It's an old model. Q: BTW how DID you get the crane hose and its supports so spot on (Hexagon??) A: I have Hexagon but alas, I've never used it (not even once). I really need to learn it though as I'm quite sure it can do a whole bunch of great stuff that I could use (and I paid for it!). Bottom line is that I did the whole thing in C. Q: Is that a propane heater on the floor next to the rocket? A: Actually, I was trying to make a rocket engine for the rocket in the stand. My original plan for this scene was to be a rocket workshop but after it served my lighting experiments for the article, I just didn't take it a whole lot farther. I did use that dorky rocket engine model for other stupid stuff since it looks like a cool machine sort of. Q: One question tho...headlights? More like skylights :)) "Five-ish? " NAAH it's a SIX! A: The whole scene is lit with two bulb lights in the ceiling. Soft shadows are turned on and indirect lighting is turned up 100%. I rendered it with a pretty high quality setting. Interestingly enough, it only took about an hour to render. Thanks for the questions! -Kix

This is off the hook!! You have modeled my dream workshop. When I was a kid, I was sure that I would have a shop like this when I grew up. I could not pass a propane tank in somebody's yard without mentally turning it into a submarine or a rocket ship. I sure wish the govt. was not suppressing the anti-gravity tech. After the CIA murdered Tesla and stole all his notes, I bet they had quite a celebration.
