Description

I was going to post a copter thingy today, but frankly, it's not worth a view. Just a copter (or two), a small naval boat and lots of splashy splashy where the blades are stirring up the water. Oh yes, and an awful lot of sea! So here is this in its' stead. I shot this the day we were able to get to the beach after the flooding. I met a Polish lady who I'd met the week before with her Chihuahua and apparently, just having moved to Par, she was one of those totally flooded out. Fortunately, she had insured the house a couple of days previously, so on that at least, she was covered. On our former meeting she had told me she had just moved from London and that her dog had never seen sand before, let alone an enormous expanse of water! But, once he realised the sea was not an enemy, and there were many other dogs on the beach willing to play, he loved it! This time round, she laughed when she relayed the utter joy he had shown when confronted with a water filled lounge! He splashed around, apparently barking for her to throw his ball! She told me how that one act had lessened the devastation which surrounded her. Fabulous woman! One of my closest friends is Polish and I am acquainted with many others, and I have to say the same stoicism I saw in Kysia, the lady on the beach, seems to be embedded in their nature. Where many would be gutted, they seem to laugh and get on with what they have! I'm not sure I would handle it so well! Image: I did wonder when I encountered this chap, whether he was also a victim of the flooding. He walked the length of the beach many times, head down, neither looking left nor right, and completely ignoring all conversation taking place between folks as he passed, including any attempt at friendliness with the tossing of "hello's" from aforementioned doggy folk! Whatever the reason, he was not a happy camper and on my way home I found myself hoping all was okay with him. Beautiful but cold down this neck of the woods - again! Fed up with this game now - I want to play something else! ^=^ On the bright side, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and I am being comforted with much coffee. Later I shall don my thermals, put my hand warming bean bags into the microwave and make for - I think the lake. ^=^ I hope the rest of you in our fine land is bearing up. I'm sure you are. 'Tis what we do, eh! ^=^ Thank you for faves and comments and thank you for taking the time to look. ^=^

I agree with Andrea ... having him walking OUT of the frame is a wonderful touch! Normally I'd be all on about having the empty space in front of him, but seeing how he's walking in such a determined way makes it a strong composition. (The water flying up off his boot is the clue to his mood for me, and then reading your narrative reinforced the idea.) Excellent capture!

Agree with all said above...but this image is so compelling...it has me wondering...looking for something new not evident here. Maybe he has just won the lottery and he's trying to figure out how to spend it:-)))

Amazing that he was that focused on something... nice capture. Maybe he is a writer and he was going through the next chapter in his mind.
