Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

A lasting memory with this last and beautiful portrait Andrea.

I have to say that the way you have described this has eased my reading of it. I will admit that my stomach is a bit tight. What I see is love in their eyes for you as they know that you care for them.

I am sorry to hear that Hetty is no longer with you, but I believe that the separation is only temporary. Ralph, Fritz and Buster will also miss her - you will all keep each other company. Beautiful portrait of your family. You are lucky...

You should be proud of this beautiful picture. In my mind I think of you, and to your true friends. It will have to get used, that there is an empty space. I know, you're not sentimental, but ...... Well, dear friend, let me say I admire you in many ways.

What a lovely memory to have, now that little Hetty isnt with you anymore. It is so sad and made me drop a tear. You did, what was best for Hetty. That is certain.

You're lucky not to be too sentimental with your charges; I get so attached that it's incredibly traumatic when these things happen. I'm glad Hetty had such a full and happy life; she was a sweet little lady!

I just had to pop in and give you and the boys a hug! This is indeed a wonderful image and great memory to all the glorious years Hetty brought joy to your home!

Andrea, I understand what you say. I always let my animals see the one who has gone so they don't look for them. My vet comes to the house though. Take care & glad Ralphie is getting there.

Hetty had a happy life with you... also you've bothered to not make her suffer more... a gesture of love! Wonderful portrait!

What a beautiful portrait of Hetty and the boys! Thanks for letting us know about the old girl. I remember the first time I saw her photo ... she was on a boardwalk in the pleasure gardens, I believe, telling you it was time to quit poking around and come ON. Such a personality! :) I shall miss her.

Lovely portrait and I imagine Hetty could not have lived a fuller nor more interesting life anywhere than with you and the rest of the family!

A lovley portrait of the family all together and looking happy and well loved. At least dear Hetty had a full and wonderul life with you and the boys. Sadly, I am an very sentimental person but so wish I wasn't at times, I admire your outlook.

Wonderful portrait of the group. It always shakes me up to have to put my pet down, but at least you had some warning. It is worse when there is no warning, as with one of mine a few years ago. Hetty had a great life with you, and there is no doubt she now is looking down protectively on her family.
