Description
I have recently dappled in producing Flash and Quicktime VR versions of some environments that I created in Vue. It is a pretty fun procedure that can be accomplished with many 3D rendering programs. Here is quick set up guide and an example using the the Dystopia city blocks that are available in the store here.
1. set up your scene for a 360 degree view
2. Render the panorama either as six cube faces (set camera to 90 degree field of view) by rotating the camera in 90 degree steps horizontally as well as up and down. Alternatively you can also generate a single equirectangular panorama image if that option is available in your software.
3. Assemble the images in a VR file using one of several available software packages. I use pano2VR from Garden Gnome software.
4. Have fun exploring your viral reality...
Here is one example that I generated in Vue 9 Infinite. The environment is an ecosystem of ~7000 dystopia city blocks (~50 different blocks) on a slightly hilly terrain. The scene is enhanced by some sky traffic. This was rendered as six 1500*1500 pixel images in Vue.
Below is a still image of a single view. You can find the interactive panorama here:

Not bad. Turn off auto-exposure on your camera to remove the seams.
