I love this!! What a wonderful combination of realism, surrealism and whimsy. This is really great. I've been sitting here staring at it, noticing detail after detail (the glasses!) and enjoying every minute! Your comment cracked me up ... I often save SO much time working in 2-D. :P

a very intense & intelligent collection, with great variety; and showing the whole worlds you create in the smallest spaces. The upper left corner has a finely drawn head-on fish, the freehand is charming, and the surrounding is fascinating for its fence-lines and that red background with a mountain: It pulls me in, as does the light-ganglia below the fish...In the right top panel as well as the bottom middle panel, you have more scientific images, which you've worked for various text book effects (the top one feels like a bas relief). The bottom-left fish is trifurcated to reveal different aspects of its form, more "nikolay" peering-into-the-inner-language of objects & creatures. And your bottom- right image is pure whimsy, a wonderful cartoon with two cross-eyed fish, one with spectacles on who looks like he's having a bad day...And what sets them all off is your wonderfully intense backgrounds, the intense chocolatey hues, the intense blacks, the separate bands of white and red, etc. Like elements in your photos, they have a presence all their own, intense but still backing the fish themselves. A delightful piece, with real intelligence; and a fascinating look at the many sides to fish...Wonderful work Nikolay.
