That was when houses were built solid! I LOVE log cabins...of course my dream log cabin comes with indoor plumbing, LOL. It's easy to look at cabins this size and romanticize them, but I guess the truth is that many people live in these cramped homes...especially on the plantations...and the pioneers. But this is a LOVELY picture!!

I often gripe about the maintenance I need to do on my house to keep it warm and structurally sound. I can't imagine what it was like to do that in a log cabin like this. Wonderful capture.
