Description
Just in front of my usual café, where I take my cappuccino to break my fast, there is a kind of median strip with some trees, bushes and stingy flowerbeds. I was taking a shot of the yellow leaves in the rain when this Chinese lady came along with her red umbrella. The red color created a kind of haze, a reflection on her face, hence the effect in the shot. However, I'm posting it all the same, because I like the colors.
Thanks for your kind comments.

well this isn't in your Autumn Symphony series, but I couldn't not comment on it as it's a burst & transformation of an image. Though it's total coincidence---ie, the woman being oriental---the dominance of that single umbrella hue makes the image almost oriental (well, Japanese at least) in that that bold red dominates a big part of the piece, the way some hues do in the great Japanese prints. (A bold single shape too, ie, the umbrella.) And when you mix that boldness with the effulgence of the flora, it's really japanese to me. I don't know how you find these shots, but what would normally be a beautiful patch of nature in a city becomes this transformed overtaken presence, with this woman coming forth like an oriental warrior en-route to somewhere, contemplating her next encounter. Great capture of a moment where the red intensifies what was there rather than detracts or destroys what was there. And when we look at the zoomed version, we see lots of detail in the leaves, etc, that look nearly drawn-in, because of whatever postwork you're doing: That gives a lot of life to the forms, even as they look dreamy. You have an eye for opulence in even the smallest places, and you seem to sense 'wholeness' in small places, presenting a portion of a yard as a universe unto itself. And btw, that woman's left hand looks like it's about to grab something fiercely (did you see that, lol? Like she's a spy en-route, and contemplating how many agents she's about to take out)...I'm just glad I'm in chicago right now. (Either that, or she's exercising her fingers for a karate chop, or maybe to play a Brahms Concerto.) A great moment's capture which sings with autumn light...I'll be back the next chance I can, I just can't get to all of these fast enough...wonderful work on all levels.

wonderful colours and photo !

A different coloured umbrella wouldn't be as good, (her left hand appears to be in a rather bizarre formation?) which spoils it a bit - but the rich colours of autumn create a wonderful tapestry, BB

That is a wonderful effect from the red umbrella. Great capture. Thanks for sharing.

A lucky accident! The red and the yellow compliment each other very well

I like the red. It gives it a surreal look like it is of another reality. Beautiful composition, color, and detail. I like the opening between the tree and woman of the path leading to another tree. Very dynamic image! That hand is a little disquieting though.
