Description

The old warrior had seen the unusually bright star high in the sky. The grizzled and old Sorcerer had told him it was over the foreign land of the Philistine peoples and he had travelled hundreds upon hundreds of miles to try and find the village that was directly beneath it. The ancient sorcerer had sent him to find the child born under this star and to deliver a gift to this child. The mage had sent a certain book from his library that he had said was going to be "the basis for a new way of thinking". How odd and cryptic this had been for the warrior, who had never been a man of peace, to try to fathom. The Wizard had told him it was a way of "peace and love for mankind" as a whole. He had said that someday there would be no use for "people in his particular trade" .... WAR ! He did not know how much further he would have to go. He hoped that this star would not fade out as quickly as it had flared to it's current brightness. It was imperative that he make the best time and to not give up. The way was perilous and full of surprises. Once he had to fight his way past an ambush from robbers and sometimes he had to go in directions that seemed to take him away from his goal. Such had just happened hours ago when, coming upon a mighty cliff that ended a thousand yards down, he had to turn back and make a detour of 30 miles. If not for a fellow traveller, that had been familiar with this area, he would have been lost and very discouraged. It seemed that destiny was indeed on his side. Maybe the sorcerer was watching over him or it could be this "God" the book spoke so much about. What ever it was he was sure he would reach this child. ..... Or he would die trying !!

Let this be my way of wishing those that acknowledge this particular holiday a Merry Christmas. I know that by the end of the month everyone might be a little tired of all the commercials and crowded shopping (especially with the economy we must suffer this year) but hopefully you will welcome this greeting early in the month... gene

Absolutely amazing expressions, even the horse looks angry. Normally such anthropomorphization of animals can be extremely hokey, and can really detract from an image. Combine the perspective, the lighting, the expression of the rider, and the horse's glare adds almost as much drama to the image as the rider's. It really captures an animalistic instinct to relentlessly pursue its goal. A truly awesome image.

The idea here is that the warrior has a harder path to take than a wise man...

Well at least the bunny looks friendly enough! J/K, powerfully done image with wonderful textures and lighting, one can almost feel the nip in the air from the powder being kicked up.
