Description

Hi All, As some of you know, I'm a Jazz Guitarist, and have been Playing for 45 years. And I finally have a CD ready to release, ( Hopefully by March 2011)... I was thinking one of my Ladies for the Cover, and: Thanks to my Faviorite Doctor, Dr. Carl. After hearing one of the Cuts from the CD, he suggested I create something with Metal,as My Playing is no doubt very Intense, Kind of Metal Jazz... So Here is my First Attempt... It's been in the works for a while. Wasn't going to post it, as It's not my theme, but this new passion has no doubt filled a creative void... Any thoughts or suggestions on a CD Cover, or changes to this are MOST MOST WELCOME... I can't thank all my friends here enough, for your comments and favs!!!, You've help me in so many ways, and I actually made it to the Poser Staff Pick... http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2816925 This is a special place!

the background, did you make it, I mean, I really like it, but if you're doing a cover and making money off it, ya gotta revise it if it's someone elses work... CD cases are just like the old album - SQUARE - so, you aught to make your canvas square. what words are you going to put on the cover, group name? Cover name? your bands name, did you already design their lettering, logo? I've gotta say I love Def Leppard, Led Zeppelin and ACDC's lettering for their bands.... Your jazz name might look good with an ACDC style lettering - lightning bolts... Logo? Van Halen, Aerosmith are two of my favorites, everyone loves the stone's tongue... Don't know how far you're into designing this, thought I'd throw a few things at ya that might help. I like the idea so far, still, without some of the things I mentioned, you've just got a rough sketch so far...

quite a bit of thought and work and creativity has gone into this piece my friend...Very very nice By running her from top to bottom of the image you have stopped my eye from travelling around the image. I like vertical poses but I needed just a little more space around her and your matte/border needs to be bigger for the space this image commands. If you rendered this twice, once as the complete scene and then again without the background and then used the latter to create a selection in the final render in photoshop. I load this layer with it's transparency as a method of masking out certain areas for adjusting etc. In this case I would have created a selection of her in PS and then adjusted her curves or levels to intensify the shadows and midtones to tie her into the scene a little more and a whisker of the cool tones from the background skimming across her skin at certain points. You have come along in leaps and bounds friend cheers Carl

Dr Carl is pretty much right. The first thing I thought when I saw this was it's a beauty but the lighting on the character doesn't quite fit with the lighting in the background. I would do something different with her eyes as well but that is just a personal thing. Making your own CD cover is quite impressive but making such a great one is really showing your talents go well beyond being just a guitarist :)

I love the image but not for a cd cover. The bg shouldn't take away from her.

sweet - and best of luck with the CD. As stated above, because of the squareness of CD boxes you'd have to have a more "compact" pose, ie: kneeling rather than an upright one. Strange I always associate metal with, well, metal/rock music, not with jazz. To me jazz is sort of woodier:) Maybe she should be holding a metal guitar? PS: my #1 purchase for next year is a Strat, have always wanted one.
