Very well done, but I have to agree with Mikeerson. The lights need a bit of touchup. I tend to render images with lots of shadow/darkness and often run into the same problem. The background is not that important in this image so I wouldn't worry about that. But the main character and the tentacles could be a bit easier to see. The tricky part is to make the character more visible without ruining the mood you've set with the current lighting. You might want to try a rim light. It will outline the character to make it easier to see without killing the lighting you currently have.
