Description

My noticed my gallery has been rather monotone lately, thought I'd brighten it up just a bit with these red berries. I have no idea what kind of tree this is, but they must not be edible, or the birds would have had quite the lunch. Thanks for looking and your comments

I can't be positive without seeing the leaves of the tree, but it looks like an ash tree. We have one in our backyard that has berries like that and in northern New Hampshire there are many in the forest. The birds don't seem to like them as much as the squirrels, who have quite a bounty with these berries. Pretty contrast between the snow and berries.

I would say that Erestorfan is right - Mountain Ash berries http://www.edmontonrivervalley.com/mountain_ash_winter.html I took a similar shot this afternoon of red berries with a sprinkling of snow on them (not ash berries though). Great capture and I like your use of DOF! Oh, and just because the birds can eat them doesn't mean it's safe for humans! lol

I love it when the snow stacks up on everything, no matter how small. Wonderful photo.
