already increased the atmo samples to 64

I also thought this was a photograph! Nicely done. Re; The granular render, my first thought would have been to increase the atmo samples. Only other thing I can suggest is perhaps to play with "Shadows of atmosphere" and "glow in atmosphere" settings and see if it makes a difference.

Wow, very beautiful mood in this! I like it very much. As for the grain - when you're working with backlight, you should increase the atmo quality samples to about 100, and the cloud samples as well. It doesn't affect render times that much. If it's still grainy, try an even higher value.
