Happy holidays dear friends... this picture is from Garda Lake - Malcesine : Malcesine is a small town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in northern Italy. It's a picturesque tourist resort with cobbled lanes and a castle, crammed between the blue lake waters and the massive mountain ridge behind, Monte Baldo. In the summer months Malcesine is a hive of innocent hedonism, packed with pottering holidaymakers gorging on ice cream and sunseekers draped along the lake shore. It's not all laziness, however, as the town's ferry connections to other lakeside resorts make it a good base for sightseeing and the cable-car running up to Monte Baldo is a magnet for cyclists, walkers and paragliders. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and Malcesine lies towards the narrow and mountainous northern end, often compared to a fiord. The town is situated at the edge of the Veneto region, in the province of Verona. 'Malcesine' is a good exercise in Italian pronunciation: the name is pronounced approximately MalCHESinay. It is an important destination for sailing and windsurf lovers. Malcesine develops itself on ramp kind roads: 65 metres from Lake Garda’s level and up to 2000 meters from Mount Baldo’s top. Among Malcesine’s most famous visitors, it is possible to identify famous painter Gustav Klimt who in the summer of 1913 painted two of his most famous landscapes, inspiring himself to Cassone and Malcesine. Beautiful, I,ve been there. Will have to go again. Our hotel was on the main road running along the east of the lake, just north of the town (on the right in this pic). It's a nice refreshing swim in there! On a sour note, I lost my passport, cash and camera on this holiday!.
