Description

Taken in Manhattan as Leslie and I got steadily wetter while learning fascinating information about the history of New York City on a 6 hour walking tour. Great fun despite the rain. For various reasons, I haven't been online much in the last couple of weeks. I have looked and enjoyed, and am slowly getting some comments out again. I hope everyone is having a great weekend! Thanks for viewing, and for comments and favs!

This is a wonderful photo Lucinda, and I'm so glad to see you sharing more pics from your New York trip with us. Very clever idea for a title by the way as the 'Y's really do catch your eye right off the bat. Still the nicest thing about these beautiful photo of New York for me at least is we get to take in all the sites without putting in the 6 hours of walking in the rain ;)

Hey, I like that building! It's not raining here, it's snowing and bone cold. I've wrapped myself in live cats in a desperate attempt to keep warm!

WOW! I love the dual worlds look this has...the Ys growing around a ceiling light! WOW! This is such a fantastic piece of brilliant composition. I love the colors and the textures and the inside/outside nature of this whole piece. I'm always intrigued by windows and transparent barriers of any sort--membranes that are semi-permeable in a sense, which is probably why I write so much stuff that takes place in those odd "window spaces" between worlds. This really captures the nature of reality that I like the most: that strange sort of spatial and emotional ambiguity. You're outside, looking in, obviously, and yet in looking in at whatever is in the room behind the glass, you're seeing the outside world behind you! It's like you're being offered a choice of what to see and how to see it, and in looking at this image, I find myself wondering about both worlds. What's going on behind that window and within that room, and simultaneously, what's going on behind the photographer, and thus, behind this picture. This is a "wowzer" shot. And a favorite.

What a beautiful shot with the lovely chandelier inside. Makes it all look mysterious in the building. Like another world is in there, even though we know the Y´s are reflections. Wonderful and so well seen.

The reflection is so clear you feel you could walk through the window into the scene. This really is an impressive image. When did they start hangin chandeliers in the trees?

Stellar POV employed to depict the fine clarity, reflections and building rococo in this cool capture, Lucinda. Incidentally, Y reminds me of a fork in the road. Which reminds me of that sage comment by Yogi Berra, "when you come to a fork in the road, take it."

I saw this last night after I'd signed off, and almost went back to comment. It's splendid Lucinda. The light quality in the window is shimmering, the beautiful gold & red from the interior (a light on a ceiling) is beautiful (it has an almost coppery patina through the window), the centering of ceiling-light with the window is finely done, the move from dark shadows in the lower half (of the window) to open sky in the upper is more fine seeing, and the "y"s---all those intersections in the trees---are wonderful. And you've framed it simply, by the stone on both sides and on the bottom. A wonderful shot. I love it. Your composition in the window is really fine...And really, though this is the Big Apple, it's a world to itself so could be any city in the world. You look deep in NYC & come back with shots that have total identities of their own...More thoughtful work from you, Lucinda.
