Description

Another Lovecraft inspired illustration. This took around 8 hours to render mostly because of the different surface maps used, plus some heavey tweaking in the atmosphere lab! I followed advice from friends about modelling the waves and I must say I think they turned out okay! Not mich post work went into this, some colour correction and contrast ect. I was inspired by this passage out of "Dagon": Then suddenly I saw it....the thing slid into view above the dark waters. Vast, Polyphemus-like and loathsome....." The drama in the illustration is my interprutation... I wanted a sense of something imense pushing the water as it rose! The lighthouse had been abandonded years ago as strange mists and haunting cries drove the bravest away! Thanks for looking and commenting!

I think the people in the light house have dimmed the light and are not sure if they should stay up.. or jump down.. a nasty storm it is with monsters...
