Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

Wow! Dam interesting Tour. I can imagine the roar of the sounds in there.. Nice capture. Aloha

Well, for once I shall use that ghastly overused word.. these really are AWESOME! There, I can't believe I just typed that.. Some friends of mine had a quite expensive cruise ruined by that word which appeared to be the only adjective their fellow passengers knew. It was applied equally to items of breakfast and to stunning sunsets. They vowed they will never go again unless the company can guarantee there will be NO Americans on the boat! LOL!
awjay
they make a superb image...
Faemike55
Very nice capture

Lovely in site to the damn!
GARAGELAND
Nice!, it looks like a setting from an old late 60´s James Bond Film.

You are one brave girl! I will not go in there... Fantastic image Marilyn!

Well done - this is a fascinating part of the dam - totally amazing how it was built and maintained. We can get an idea of the size of these things by looking at the doorways along the platform on the left size.

Great shot. I watched a DVD about what would happen to the earth if humans suddenly vanished. I think I remember it saying that these would be about the last source of energy to stop working without human maintenance etc. Awesome photo with an out of this world quality.

Great Dam shot Marilyn they are huge.. cool!!
NefariousDrO
That is so cool! Great shot, those things are impressive displays of human engineering, no?

Yeah, there's a word I don't use...it makes my teeth get all squishy and itchy whenever I even THINK of saying it...but there are times when it should be said and so I'll just spit it out. This, like the previous dam shot is awesome...and I mean that in a literal sense. I'm always impressed by turbines and knowing that these whoppers are bigger than the apartment building I live in is quite...well...woah! On top of that, you captured this so perfectly! I'd love to see that for myself and enjoy wandering around as far as I'm allowed to wander. WOW! This is a humdinger of a cool shot!
MrsRatbag
What a really cool POV for these monsters! It makes them look almost reasonably small... Fantastic shot!
jocko500
wow I been on the dam but never inside. when i go back i hope to take the inside too
auntietk
Totally cool! I'm glad you went over there. Excellent image!

Those sure are some big dam turbines...What a nice dam shot...

All the pertinent adjectives have been well used in the comments above. How about a simple, WOW?

"Ginormous" btw is the technical term. Really, it's like a temple because of all the light you captured in the pillars to each side. And in the center (in the nave)? The turbines sitting there like giant gods. Are they loud? I mean, I'd imagine you'd be shouting to be heard. Really dramatic church-like capture, and I love how you got the tips of the turbines going back into 'infinity' as if we saw them in repeated mirrors. You've really capture Power here, Marilyn!
goodoleboy
Ultra awesome POV, DOF, clarity, detail, repetition and lighting contrast in this superlative shot, Marilyn! And, yeah, the noise of these damn turbines keeps me up at night.

Thanks to things like these that I can type this now... Keep on turning! Clive

Wow! This is a dam interesting photo( yes, I went there).Good to see them close up. I originally saw them, strangely enough(and people say you can't learn anything from TV)at the climax of an action secquence in a 1975 episode of The Rockford Files where James Garner chases a bad guy all through the dam and catches him near these turbines. Funny how these things work. Great shot!
danapommet
Massive looking chamber and well captured. Dana
