Description

I am by no means a poet but I wrote a poem about the legend of the horse as I imagine it. No laughing now!!!:-) Pegasus soared on wings of light Above the clouds, white on white. His spirit true, his heart so kind He really wished that he could find, Someone like him, a creature rare All of Eternity with him to share. The unicorn was that creature rare Could he approach her, would he dare, A coat of velvet, like the night, He had never seen a more exquisite sight, Her eyes were soft and melting brown, Her nose covered with delicate silky down. As he settled by her side, He cared not a whit for time nor tide. He had found upon the earth so fair This beautiful and enchanting mare He blew down his nose and pawed the ground She whinnied softly and turned around. Into each other eyes they gazed They couldn’t help but be amazed, That two so different yet so akin, Not know of the other, what a sin. One of the world, one of the air. One a stallion and one a mare. This union of souls did provide, the horse you, today, do ride, the children of this glorious pair the flying stallion and the earthbound mare Arab, Friesian, Mustang, Cob and the Shetland pony too Would not be here, if not for you. So we thank you for this precious gift Guaranteed our souls to lift When next astride a magnificent steed, Think for a moment, that indeed, We must give thanks to Pegasus and his unicorn That the horses we love were ever born. Sylvia De Klerk. Luv Ya!! Sylvia

You did great! Do not deride your talents as a poet. Your words sang and by the time I was well into it I felt a shiver and dare I say a tear. And to make the mare, the unicorn, dark in color goes so against the norm on both counts that I had to go back and reread just to make sure I was seeing right. Good on you girl.
