this is Pogo. a comix from thr 1950's and early 1960's.
Here is what it say
Pogo[he on the left] ; "I never et a mounted fish afore...figger it'll be tastey Gristle?"
Gristle is the turtle she lighting the candle say " hard to say It's stuffed with nothing but ol' comic books ... something 'bout a 'possum'"
her is the english verson as this is back wood talk.
pogo say " I never eat a mounted fish before... figure it will be tasty Gristle?"
Gristle say : hard to say as it is stuffed with nothing but old comic books .... something about a Possum"

I remember the old Pogo comic strip.It was kind of hard to understand sometimes.I remember a strange song from the strip named Deck Us All With Boston Charlie.

Oh my gosh!! Jock, I remember Pogo! but mostly it went over my head. A lot of it was commentary on politics and I had no clue at that time. I loved it anyway, I just read it and took it at face value. That's what was so great about Pogo .. you could read the deeper meaning, or just laugh at the surface jokes! I remember that tune, too, Deck Us All With Boston Charlie .. giggles! Excellent dedi, too, Happy Bday Ute!!

Hand painting - It's been probably over 2 years since I painted by brush. I don't remember this comic character, but than again, I was into Marvel and DC - lol... I don't think spiderman ever ate a mounted fish - lol, but than again I haven't read all his books, no one has - lol
