Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

amazing that this is just the top of a staircase, because it has a monumental feel to it, like it's the top of a tall building, or in the lobby of a large commercial structure, etc. And to think they put this much design sense into an interior that only certain people would see (and without expectation of "art" when they do). Your angle emphasizes the juxtaposition of broad mass with line (ie, the metal posts): Fine juxtaposition, Marilyn. And the hues are light against dark, with a silvery gray & deep crimsons dominating. (I love those crimsons & amber tones!) You show your very fine eye for architectural detail here, and I can see why you were drawn to this place with your camera: You take to it with real power! Another fine piece from this trip.

Damn right on the art deco influence. I expect to see William Powell and Myrna Loy step out from behind those vertical bars. In any event, super POV, clarity and lighting effects in this pic, Maz!

I love that weathered globe, and the composition of this shot is just spot-on perfect! You really captured the light well, and even though this is a detail, it might seem a little odd, but I can definitely get a sense of scale here. Really nice, and I like the way this looks so timeless: it could be ancient, it could be just merely old, or it could be something completely modern with the patina of age applied to it. (I once saw a guy putting rust ON a boutique sign on Chicago Avenue...a week later it actually did look as if it had aged naturally. He'd just applied some kind of corrosive and let it simmer or whatever corrosives do.) Anyway, all of that aside, I really love this shot. It's a real winner among many real winners in your gallery.
