La certosa di Farneta è una monastero di Lucca che si trova nella località omonima
Storia e descrizione
Il primitivo nucleo, costruito alla metà del XIV secolo, venne modificato nel XVII secolo; ai primi del Novecento fu più che raddoppiato per ospitare la comunità della Grande Chartreuse, espulsa dalla Francia. La chiesa, consacrata nel 1358, mostra l'aspetto assunto dopo i rifacimenti della fine del Seicento. La decorazione pittorica ad affresco di Stefano Cassiani, detto il Certosino, ricopre tutte le pareti; una grande edicola marmorea inquadra la Discesa dello Spirito Santo.
Adiacenti alla chiesa si trovano il chiostro piccolo e la sala capitolare, dove è conservata un'Annunciazione seicentesca. Attorno al Chiostro Grande sono disposte le celle dei monaci, vere e proprie casette, separate le une dalle altre. La Certosa non è visitabile.

Subiva la feroce rappresaglia da parte dei soldati tedeschi che pure aveva accolto, sacrificando la vita di numerosi suoi certosini, separati dai confratelli, deportati e dispersi. Nobile esempio di grande spirito di sacrificio e di umana solidarietà .»

The Charterhouse of Farneta is a monastery of Lucca, which is located in the homonymous
History and Description
The primitive core, built in the middle of the fourteenth century, was remodeled in the seventeenth century to the early twentieth century was more than doubled to accommodate the community of Grande Chartreuse, expelled from France. The church, consecrated in 1358, shows the appearance taken with remakes of the late seventeenth century. The fresco paintings of Stephen Cassiani, says the Carthusian, covering all the walls and a large marble shrine fits the Descent of the Holy Spirit.
Adjacent to the church has a small cloister and chapter house, where it is preserved seventeenth-century Annunciation. Around the Great Cloister are arranged cells of monks, real houses, separated from each other. The Charterhouse is not open.

Such a long and rich history. When the first permanent settlement was founded in North America by the Spanish in Florida this church was already over two hundred years old. Such a legacy you have superbly captured. Una e ricca storia così lunga. Quando il primo insediamento fu fondato nel Nord America dagli spagnoli in Florida, questa chiesa è stata già più di duecento anni. Tale patrimonio si superbamente catturata.
