"You haven't seen a tree until you've seen its shadow from the sky." -- Amelia Earhart
“You don't take a photograph, you make it.” - - Ansel Adams
UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

Love the composition, the division of space, the light and shadow. Excellent image!

I'm sure he's managed it before Bill, shouldn't pose a problem! Nice shot.

HA! Now I wish I was in my old village, where I lived before. There we have twisted chimneys in the oldest part of the village :-) How about that? Excellent shot and yes a big challenge for Santa :-)

I hope Santa makes it, what does he do when the house doesn't have a chimney???

beautiful shadow & light, the roof & facade are studies in dappling. (And the facade---a 'tear drop' tile from the 19th C---fits right in.) As dappling will do, you've captured subtle pastel hues in the shadows & the join between the two roof masses. The bright chimey & dark leaves (on top) are perfect foils. Simple but very eloquent. And if I were Santa, I'd look up and think: "Forget gifts, I'm takin' a picture!" (They'd be saying, at the North Pole: "Who gave Santa the Nikon? Someone get that thing away from him...")

LOL...Yes, Santa best be on a diet if he is going to attempt that chimney.... Aloha

VERY COOL, POOR SANTA!
goodoleboy
Unless he goes on a crash diet between now and Christmas eve, no way is fat (perhaps obese would be a more appropriate term) and jolly Santa going to make it down that chimney shaft without either breaking some bricks or some ribs. In any event, a superlative POV used to capture the fine clarity, color, lighting and textures in this cool foto, Bill.

"1 block of C4....check......1 roll of det cord....check....we're good to go", Santa was a Navy Seal....but don't tell the little ones.
RodS
Hehe - I think he'd better go on a crash diet before he tackles this one! LOL! I know a little secret about Santa..... Keep watching my gallery wink, wink Really cool photo, Bill! Love that clear blue sky! LOL @ niewil - yeah C4 and detcord are a guaranteed good time! A real blast...;-D

It will be a challange but he should be able to at least fit once he gets to the top. Our chimney is so skinny that I worry he wont visit me.....
