Description

The Mask Temple at Lamanai is the smallest of the three temples excavated and restored at this site so far. It was built between 550 - 650 AD. At the lower right side facing the temple is a 15-ft. mask showing a human head with a crocodile headdress. The mask is covered with a plaster shield to protect the limestone mask underneath. Thia picture was taken on 27 November 2010. Thank you for viewing and commenting, Sig...

How interesting, that they covered over the original. Makes me scratch my head a bit. I'm sure they have a good reason for plastering over that part and not other parts ... Hmmmmm ... you've got me thinking! Excellent image.
