Description

The Eurasian Jay (Garrulus glandarius) is a species of bird occurring over a vast region from Western Europe and north-west Africa to the eastern seaboard of Asia and down into south-east Asia. Across its vast range, several very distinct racial forms have evolved to look very different from each other, especially when forms at the extremes of its range are compared. The bird is called jay, without any epithets, by English speakers in Britain and Ireland. This picture is dedicated to Jean (anmes) ! She recently uploaded an image of goldfinches at the feeder thumb_2146194.jpg "Hungry! by anmes" and I challenged myself to capture new species in our garden... So far, I have not seen any goldfinches but I'm proud of this jay... Thank you very much for your comments on my previous upload: thumb_2146496.jpg "3+1 (Tits at the feeder)"

Thank you.Michel. I know jays, but only fleetingly in the garden. Just viewed your gallery and the birds are brilliantly captured...it's amazing what turns up at this time of yesr. I'm waiting for redwings and fieldfares....apples all waiting for them.
