I have been into photography for over 40 years, and the pull doesnt lessen. As a family we have always been keen walkers, and that gets you to some interesting places.Ive recently been to Southern India as a member of an adult support team with our local community school to Chennai so the camera never cooled down i can tell you, (watch this space). I live in Chard South Somerset, and have fairly recently converted to digital, at first reluctantly, but now enthusiastically. Its great to hear others comments on your pictures and i am looking forward to loading up my space. Alan. Almost through my first week and inspiration levels have rocketed, thanks for all those comments they drive me on.

Wow. I've tried but I just can't seem to make out the years. I think the lean on the gravestone may have looked even more pronounced with the church tower being straight (or is that too falling over!!). I've been looking at it on Google Images and it sure is beautiful. Great find Alan.

I like your decision re focal length and exact place of capture. It must have taken a while to get everything in place to your satisfaction.

The old church in the background and the tombstone in the foreground - a wonderful POV! Creates lot of mood, and the frosty weather is fine for that mood, too!

Perhaps it was intuitive on your part, but the church is captured on an angle, which is perfect for the angled stone in the foreground. They're different angles, and the angles speak of the mystery of that part of the country (which you live in & capture so often---an area legendary to those of us in the States who know of it). The angles seem to say that every stone there has a life of its own & doesn't adhere to the rules of uprightness & gravity. Lovely decay on the stone, and the snow gives it an air of cleansed purity. I have sound recordings of bells from several churches in the area (I was a musician & worked with sound for several years); and I wonder if, at night, these places evoke Hamlet's chilling "when churchyards yawn and hell itself breathes out contagion to this world..." An intimate view, steeped in a big mystery...

Something about old stones. Sometimes they tell stories. Excellent composition and focus. Looks like she passed in 1875.
